Year 4

Mr Lang

I came to St Andrew's in September 2010 having qualified in 2009 with a degree in Primary Education. I joined the school as Year 4 teacher and will continue to work with year 4 in 2011. I enjoyed myself immensely throughout my first year and built excellent relationships with both staff and pupils. This year, I have taken on the role of Numeracy co-ordinator which I find both exciting and challenging and I am sure will be very rewarding.  In addition to this, Mr Burns and I will continue to oversee the production of the fortnightly school newsletter which will be run by a selection of Year 5/6 children.

Year 4

We have started the new year with a mini topic 'I'm special' which involves the children talking and writing about themselves and the area in which they live as well learning more about other children in their class. We are very fortunate in Year 4 to have the assistance of Mrs Hindle who is very dedicated and works extremely hard with the children to assist their learning and is very creative within the classroom with regard to displays etc.

Year 4 will cover three topics year consisting of Spain, Ancient Egyptians and Rainforests with lots of exciting science and ICT work related to these topics. In addition to this, Year 4 children will have the opportunity to participate in guitar lessons which will take place one afternoon per week.
