Remembrance Everyday by Mrs Newsham
The white gravestones lie
Row after row
Of those who fought
And died in war
Some have names
Others not
But the sacrifice
Won’t be forgot
They gave their lives
So we could be
Free from war
For eternity
But war rages on
In lands far and near
Tears still fall
More gravestones appear
The fighting must stop
All wars should end
And home to their families
The soldiers we’ll send
But the ones that fell
And gave their lives
Won’t return home
To mothers and wives
So wear your poppy with pride
For all that fell
And the ones still fighting
Remember them as well
Think of them always
Not just this day
They gave away their tomorrows
For a peaceful today
