Transition and the way schools work together with each other can influence children’s future school careers. For most children the move from primary to secondary school is usually characterised by a mix of excitement and anxiety. Alongside the anticipation of making new friends, being treated in a more adult way and learning new things, comes the uncertainty about what the new school will be like and worries about different routines, teachers and workloads. To promote a smooth transition, we arrange links with local secondary schools where our pupils take part in different activities, have the opportunity to meet older pupils and generally get a feel for secondary school life.
