I came to St Andrew’s in September 2010 having qualified in 2009 with a degree in Primary Education. I joined the school as Year 4 teacher and carried out this role until 2014. I have taught in Year 1 and this Year I am in Year 2, for the second year. It is both challenging and rewarding. I have enjoyed myself immensely throughout my six years at St Andrew’s and have built excellent relationships with both staff and pupils. I am also the ICT Co-ordinator as well as being the Educational Visits Co-ordinator and Teacher Governor. I also lead the Teaching & Learning team.
We will start the year with our first topic looking at the place where we live which will involve lots of work looking at Oswaldtwistle past and present. We are very fortunate in Year 2 to have the assistance of Mrs Standen who is a dedicated member of staff and works extremely hard with the children to assist their learning. Mrs Standen is also very creative and experienced within the classroom with regard to displays etc.
In Year 2 we will cover lots of exciting topics including:
- The place where I live
- Fighting fit
- The farm shop
- Wind in the willows
- Buckets and spades
